We are pleased to offer the following services:
Our appointment book is computerized which allows us to efficiently make appointments for you and your pet. Our receptionists and team will attempt to accommodate all requests to the best of our ability. We are open for scheduled appointments from:
- Monday to Friday: 7am - 6pm
- Saturday: 8am - 3pm
Emergencies are accepted anytime our clinic is open. If you feel you have an emergency with your pet, please call us or come to the hospital immediately. If possible it is best to call before coming in so that a staff member can advise you on your particular emergency.
We are also available for urgent care when the condition is not life-threatening, but you feel your pet needs to be seen before you are able to get an appointment. Our veterinarians will work to "squeeze" you in between scheduled appointments. We will allow you to drop your pet off for the day if no appointments are available and you do not have time to wait.
Because a large number of veterinarians practice at Acres North Animal Hospital, we can care for many types of pets:
- Dogs
- Cats
- Rabbits*
- Pocket Pets*
- Reptiles*
*Select veterinarians only. Call us for more information.
Physical Exams
The health and well being of our patients is very important to us. A doctor examines all patients on each visit to our clinic. Since our patients age so much more rapidly than humans, a wellness exam every six months is ideal. During an exam the doctor checks ears, eyes, teeth, gums, heart, lungs, lymph nodes, thyroid gland, abdomen, & skin. Problems can appear quickly, and comprehensive exams help us detect problems early. Early detection of many diseases can help your pet live longer.
Laboratory
Our lab has a wide variety of equipment and an experienced staff to help meet your needs. We perform in–house blood work, urinalysis, cultures, and have recently begun performing in – house heartworm tests. We also have access to several full service labs which provide more in – depth bloodwork, analysis of biopsies, cultures and sensitivities, as well as specialized lab tests.
Pharmacy
Our pharmacy is well stocked with a wide range of medications to help keep your pet healthy. We dispense heartworm preventives and flea and tick controls in addition to antibiotics, anti-inflammatories, heart medications, antihistamines, and many more. We also work closely with Triad Pharmacy to have medications compounded for pets. Compounding is pertinent when a pet is too small for the smallest dose available or won’t take the drug in its usual form.
Dentistry
Your pet’s teeth are as important as your own! That’s why we offer dentistry for cats & dogs. Heavy tartar can lead to red and inflamed gums that can lead to more serious infections and plaque formation. Plaque is 98% bacteria. After being swallowed, the bacteria can leave deposits on the liver, kidneys, and heart causing premature organ failure. We perform routine teeth cleanings to keep the plaque from becoming a problem. We can also extract teeth that need to be removed due to infection, take x-rays that help us analyze jaw bone health, and apply a barrier sealant to deter tartar from forming.
Surgery
Our highly trained, very diverse doctors enable us to offer a variety of surgical procedures. Surgeries are performed Monday through Friday by appointment. In addition to routine surgeries such as spays, neuters, and declaws we can also perform tumor removals, laceration repairs, amputations, aural hematomas, and foreign body retrieval.
Radiology
X-rays provide information about a pet’s internal condition. We can examine bone x-rays to determine the presence of fractures, fungus, & cancers. We can examine x-rays of the chest to determine pneumonia, asthma, cancer, and heart disease. Abdominal x-rays can show us enlarged organs, cancer, and foreign objects. We can even send x-rays to the radiology specialist in town to get a second opinion.
Ultrasound
The ultrasound machine is another form of imaging. This wonderful diagnostic tool allows us to actually view the organs in motion. We use this machine to determine the severity of heart diseases, obtain tissue samples from abnormal organs, obtain urine samples, and look for cancer.
Grooming
We have a groomer on staff that can bathe & groom your dog. She can rid them of fleas and ticks as well. She has a great deskunking recipe and can provide relief to pets with itchy or dry skin by using medicated shampoos. Our groomer has been certified for 20 years and is available Tuesday though Saturday by appointment. Just call the front desk to schedule.
Boarding
We have several cages and runs to meet your boarding needs. Our kennel area is indoors and climate controlled. Dogs are walked outside twice daily, even on weekends and holidays. We have veterinary assistants that can treat your pet with medications while they are here, if necessary. We provide the food, bowls, toys, bedding, and love while you are away.
Training & Obedience
A well-trained pet is a must for any family environment. Training can begin at any age, but starting early can help prevent bad habits from ever forming. Behavior problems are the number one reason pets are given up for adoption or euthanized at an early age. Behavior issues are best handled as soon as they begin so they don't turn into habits. Be sure to let us know right away if you need help. Please take the time to train your pet. You will be glad you did!
